Gary F. Torrell participated in a panel discussion entitled “Loan Modifications and Bankruptcy Considerations for the Less Successful Clients” to the Westside Business Managers’ Discussion Group on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Guido’s Restaurant in Los Angeles.
The event was for business management firms whose clients are primarily in the entertainment industry. The panel discussion focused on possible solutions for troubled businesses, given the current state of the credit markets and the economy as a whole.
“The economy is very precarious at the moment and changes are happening on a daily basis, including changes in the laws and regulations,” says Mr. Torrell. “Keeping abreast of these trends is my job so that I can be a valuable asset to my clients.”
Mr. Torrell is an experienced creditors’ rights and bankruptcy lawyer and a Bankruptcy Court mediator . He has represented secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations and has advised major banks and private equity lenders on loan sales and purchases, loan participations, loan documents, and secured transactions. He was also the general counsel of Downey Savings and Loan Association.
Mr. Torrell’s co-panelists were Mr. Eddie Glickman of Mortgage Capital Partners and Ms. Maria Roller from New American Funding.
