M. Laurie Murphy is a faculty member at UCLA’s extension program where she is taught a course on landlord-tenant law. This course was designed for landlords, tenants, attorneys, or business people interested in obtaining a general overview of landlord tenant law in California. Topics included creating tenancies, rights and duties during tenancy, security deposits, evictions, termination of tenancies, unlawful detainer actions, rent and eviction control laws, and important considerations for leased properties from the landlord’s viewpoint as well as the tenant’s viewpoint. Both residential and commercial leasing were covered. The course was held on Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and runs from January 24 – March 14.
