Valensi Rose Managing Partner Michael R. Morris was a panelist at the California Copyright Conference’s panel discussion, "Music Industry/Legal Update With The California Copyright Conference Past Presidents,” on the evening of September 11, 2018, at the Sportsman’s Lodge Hotel at 12825 Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, California.

Mr. Morris was joined by other distinguished former presidents of the organization, who will discuss legal and legislative issues; film and TV music and licensing; publishing and artist deals; and performing rights and the digital marketplace.

The other panelists included Dan Butler, Esq., Senior Vice President, Business Affairs and Legal-Music at Paramount Pictures; Shawn LeMone, Senior Vice President, Film & TV Music/New Media at ASCAP; and Evan Greenspan, who negotiates music rights for top-tier entertainment companies worldwide. Teri Nelson Carpenter, President and CEO of Reel Muzik Werks, music rights management company, will moderate the panel.

In addition to being a past President of California Copyright Conference, Mr. Morris was a co-chair of the CalCPA Education Foundation Entertainment Industry Conference (2013, 2014, 2015), at which he has moderated numerous music industry and entertainment tax panels.  Michael has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer (2006-2018) and one of “L.A.’s Top 100 Lawyers” by the Los Angeles Business Journal.

He is a former trial lawyer for the IRS and a certified specialist in taxation law. His entertainment industry clients include producers, record labels, composers, music publishers, actors, talent agencies, motion picture companies, post-production houses and Grammy-winning recording artists.

The Conference, established in 1953, focuses on copyright and other issues pertaining to music and entertainment. Its members include publishers, songwriters, composers, attorneys, music supervisors, trade publication representatives, performing rights societies, music libraries, motion pictures, television, multimedia, Internet, and record companies.
