Lynda I. Chung, a litigation partner with Valensi Rose and the head of our Litigation Group, will lead a live 90-minute webinar on August 26 on post-mortem debt collection.

The webinar, presented by Lorman Education Services, will help attorneys, lenders, and credit managers learn how to successfully prosecute creditors’ claims against decedents' estates.

Participants will also learn how to explain to clients the obligations of spouses, heirs, and trusts; avoid potential difficulties in probate court; identify the proper parties and heir to negotiate with; and understand the implications of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Following the death of a spouse, the surviving spouse and heirs may have to deal with debts accumulated by the decedent. In California, community property law can affect the claims of creditors against a decedent's estate or trust as well as the exposure of a surviving spouse and heirs to the decedent's debts.

Lynda lectures frequently on post-mortem debt collection, handling decedent estates, and related issues to bar associations and legal education sessions.

Lynda specializes in probate and business litigation matters, including will contests, trust contests, financial elder abuse, fiduciary accounting, and creditor's rights.
