M. Laurie Murphy
As head of the litigation practice group, Laurie Murphy manages and mentors an experienced group of litigators noted for their ability to solve complex disputes.
With civil engineering degrees and more than two decades of law practice, Laurie’s unique skills in real estate and construction litigation matters set her apart from most attorneys.
Her client roster includes high-end residential and commercial property owners (corporate, partnership and individual property owners); contractors and developers; other real estate professionals; and business owners. She has substantial experience spanning the full spectrum of legal disputes, unique to real estate and construction.
In addition, Laurie handles general business litigation and employment disputes for her business owner clients as well as trust and estates litigation matters. An example of the notable results that Laurie and her colleagues have delivered is the $23 million surcharge judgment against an unfaithful trustee (client's half-brother), including double and punitive damages. She also has significant court and jury trial experience and an extensive background in alternate dispute resolution, including both arbitration and mediation.
Realizing that litigation is often a painful experience, Laurie and her colleagues strive to make the process as smooth as possible with resourceful and effective case management, while remaining watchful stewards of their clients’ resources.
Laurie is a frequent lecturer on real estate and construction matters. She presents seminars at numerous professional organizations such as the National Business Institute.
