Successful Outcomes
- Represented the founder of a reality TV production company referred to us by a business manager. The founder wanted to reward a key employee who was contributing substantially to the success of the business by having that employee get an equity interest in the company as well as provide for an orderly buyout. However, the existing S corporation structure did not allow for it. Solution: the existing S corporation dropped its assets into a new LLC and the key employee was brought on as member and manager of the new LLC.
- Successfully represented a member of a famed rock band, referred to us by their business manager/CPA, in securing an IRS tax refund in excess of $250,000, where the IRS response to a Freedom of Information Act request revealed that the IRS had abused its discretion in not processing the original refund claim.
- Revised an estate plan by setting up a family trust and related estate plan for a senior executive at a major network referred to us by his business manager after transferring to California from the East Coast.
