Rachelle H. Cohen will speak about “The AI-Efficient Lawyer: Fees, Costs, and Client Expectations,” at a November 4 webinar hosted by the Corporations Committee of the California Law Association’s Business Law Section.

Joining Rachelle in the mid-day discussion will be Hickmon Friday III, a San Diego-based civil litigation attorney whose practice includes consumer protection, business disputes, and warranty litigation.

The webinar recognizes that artificial intelligence is changing how lawyers practice law, including drafting agreements, reviewing documents, and communicating with clients.

But these efficiencies also raise billing and ethical questions, such as whether a lawyer should disclose their use of AI, bill the same amount for work that is completed more quickly with AI, charge clients for AI subscription or usage fees, and more.

The program, which will start at noon and end at 1 p.m., will examine these questions from the perspective of lawyers’ professional obligations and client service when using AI, including ethical duties related to competence, confidentiality, communication, and billing.

Registration for the webinar is available online.
